OroVerde takes the protection of personal data very seriously. That is why we want you to know what data we store and how we use it. As a non-profit foundation, we are obliged to comply with the provisions of the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the German Federal Data Protection Act and the German Telemedia Act.

The data protection regulations mentioned here apply to OroVerde's websites on www.oroverde.de and www.regenwald-schuetzen.com and www.regenwald-schuetzen.org, http://regenwald-unterrichtsmaterial.oroverde.de, https://en.oroverde.de and www.elisabeth-kalko-stiftung.de. On servers or pages to which external links lead, other privacy policies may apply.

1. What is personal data and how is it used at OroVerde?

Personal data is data that relates to your person. This is, for example, your address, e-mail address or telephone number, but also information about your possible interests, donation behavior or surfing behavior, provided that these can be directly or indirectly assigned to you personally. OroVerde collects such personal data that is necessary for donor acquisition, donation administration and shipment processing. For example, we need the complete postal address in order sending you an annual donation receipt. Address data may also be used in accordance with the Federal Data Protection Act sending you information about OroVerde's charitable work as well as appeals for donations. We use e-mail addresses or telephone numbers we receive from our donors only to respond to your inquiries, unless you have given us further permission (e.g., to send e-mailing and donation receipts).

We process your contractual data (e.g. services used, names of contact persons, payment information) to fulfill our contractual obligations and services according to Art. 6 para. 1 lit b. (GDPR). The information marked as mandatory in online forms is required for the conclusion of the contract. All other data is voluntary.

1.1 IP Address

The IP address is a globally valid, unique designation of your computer and consists of four blocks of digits separated by dots. On the OroVerde pages we use Google Analytics (see paragraph 5 Google Analytics and Coockies) to statistically evaluate which of our pages are particularly popular, how many accesses occur daily, etc.. For this purpose, the IP address of the user is stored anonymously. This tracking of the IP address can be prevented by a setting on your web browser - the so-called "Do not track" (DNT). If this option is activated, all tracking functions are automatically deactivated on our web server and our pages are transmitted to you without a code for Google Analytics.

1.2 Newsletter

OroVerde offers two newsletters in German, each published about six times a year by email: a general newsletter with information from the rainforest conservation projects and an educational newsletter with news and information on environmental education and references to new teaching materials for teachers. In addition, special newsletters are sent out on acute occasions.

The newsletters are sent via the service provider Cleverreach and opening and clicks are evaluated. For example, we check which links in the newsletter are clicked on how often in order to optimize the newsletters for users.

We use the double opt-in procedure for subscribing to our e-mail newsletter. The only exceptions are the material order forms (information material, teaching material, gift certificates), where you can request the newsletter in addition to the ordered materials by actively placing a check mark. Consent to receive the newsletter is logged and can be revoked at any time. A short e-mail to info(at)oroverde.de is sufficient.

1.3 Online forms and payment data

When you make a donation online with OroVerde, become a supporter, order information material or purchase teaching materials, we only collect the personal data that is necessary to process these services. These are, for example, your name and e-mail address and, if applicable, payment data. After completion of the order, or the donation (gift certificates), only the ordered items and your address data will be sent to you in an unencrypted e-mail. Your data will be transferred to us or the payment service provider in encrypted form.

Donations via the form of the gift certificates or payment by direct debit: Your payment details are sent to OroVerde in encrypted form and then transferred directly to our bank, the SozialBank.

Donating via the gift certificate form or paying via PayPal: If you have selected this payment method, you will be redirected to the PayPal website after submitting your donation or order, where you can complete your donation or payment as usual. We do not receive your account information and are only informed about the successful payment.

The processing of donations and sponsorship contributions via the standard donation forms and the sponsor form is done via the Altruja donation portal - the Altruja data protection guidelines apply here. Here applies:

Donations via the donation or supporter form by direct debit: Your payment data is sent to OroVerde in encrypted form and then transferred directly to our bank, the SozialBank.

Donations via the donation or sponsor form by PayPal: If you have selected this payment method, you will be redirected to the PayPal website after submitting the donation or order, where you can complete your donation or payment as usual. Donations via the donation or sponsor form by SofortÜberweisung: If you have selected this payment method, you will be forwarded directly to the website of the payment provider Sofort AG after submitting the donation or order, where you can complete your donation or payment as usual. We do not receive your account details and are only informed about the successful payment.

Donating via the donation or sponsor form by credit card: If you have selected this payment method, your credit card data will be forwarded to the credit card service provider WireCard via an encrypted connection. We do not receive your credit card data and are only informed about the successful payment.

2. Data Security

All Internet pages on which personal data is requested are secured by https - encryption.  You can recognize the encrypted data transmission by the closed lock and the abbreviation "https" in the status bar of your internet browser. Your data is encrypted on the way to us and can only be read again on our server. The security certificate of COMODO Lite (Positive SSL) confirms the authenticity of the encryption.

Your data is stored electronically. Access is only possible for authorized employees who are familiar with the relevant data protection regulations.

3. Obligation to provide information and right of revocation

You have the right at any time to obtain information about the data and consent we have stored about you. Revocation: If you have given your consent for us to use your data, but do not wish to receive any information/advertising from us in the future, you can revoke your consent at any time. To do so, simply contact us by e-mail at info@oroverde.de. Your revocation will be immediately noted in our database and no more information/advertising will be sent to you from that point on.

Your data will be deleted if you revoke your consent to storage in writing or if knowledge of it is no longer required to fulfill the purpose for which it was stored.

4. Disclosure to third parties

We assure that OroVerde uses personal data exclusively for the purposes of the foundation. Data will never be sold or rented to other companies or (like-minded) organizations. Data will only be transferred if we are required to do so by law or court order.

To perform this task, we work with service providers who may also receive personal data for this purpose. These service providers are contractually bound to OroVerde and may only use the data for the agreed purpose, for example, a specific postal mailing.

5. Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager and Cookies

This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc ("Google"). Google Analytics uses "cookies", which are text files placed on your computer, to help the website analyze how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. However, due to IP anonymization on this website, your IP address will be truncated beforehand by Google within member states of the EU or in other contracting states of the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. On our behalf, Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage to the website operator. The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other data from Google. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser, however please note that if you do this you may not be able to use the full functionality of this website. You can also prevent the collection of data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) to Google and the processing of this data by Google by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at the following link (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).

Google Tag Manager

We use the Google Tag Manager, a service of Google LLC. (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA; "Google"). The Google Tag Manager itself does not collect any personal data. The Tag Manager makes it easier for us to integrate and manage our tags. Tags are small code elements that are used, among other things, to measure traffic and visitor behavior, to measure the impact of online advertising and social channels, to set up remarketing and targeting, and to test and optimize websites. If you have opted out of personalized advertising by Google, this opt-out will be honored by Google Tag Manager. For more information about Google Tag Manager, please visit https://www.google.com/intl/de/tagmanager/use-policy.html

6. Google AdWords and Google Conversion Tracking

This website uses Google AdWords. AdWords is an online advertising program of Google Inc, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, United States ("Google").

Within the framework of Google AdWords, we use the so-called conversion tracking. When you click on an ad placed by Google, a cookie is set for conversion tracking. Cookies are small text files that the internet browser stores on the user's computer. These cookies lose their validity after 30 days and are not used to personally identify the user. If the user visits certain pages of this website and the cookie has not yet expired, Google and we can recognize that the user clicked on the ad and was redirected to this page.

Each Google AdWords customer receives a different cookie. The cookies cannot be tracked across AdWords customers' websites. The information obtained using the conversion cookie is used to create conversion statistics for AdWords customers who have opted in to conversion tracking. The customers learn the total number of users who clicked on their ad and were redirected to a page tagged with a conversion tracking tag. However, they do not receive information that personally identifies users. If you do not wish to participate in the tracking, you can object to this use by easily deactivating the Google conversion tracking cookie via your internet browser under user settings. You will then not be included in the conversion tracking statistics.

The storage of "conversion cookies" is based on Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in analyzing user behavior in order to optimize both its website and its advertising.

More information about Google AdWords and Google conversion tracking can be found in Google's privacy policy: www.google.de/policies/privacy/.

You can set your browser so that you are informed about the setting of cookies and only allow cookies in individual cases, exclude the acceptance of cookies for certain cases or in general and activate the automatic deletion of cookies when closing the browser. If cookies are deactivated, the functionality of this website may be limited.

7. etracker

The provider of this website uses services of etracker GmbH from Hamburg, Germany (www.etracker.com) to analyze usage data. We do not use cookies for web analysis by default. Insofar as we use analysis and optimization cookies, we obtain your explicit consent separately in advance. If this is the case and you consent, cookies are used to enable statistical coverage analysis of this website, measurement of the success of our online marketing measures, and test procedures, for example, to test and optimize different versions of our online offering or its components. Cookies are small text files that are stored by the Internet browser on the user's terminal device. etracker cookies do not contain any information that enables identification of a user.

The data generated by etracker is processed and stored by etracker on behalf of the provider of this website exclusively in Germany and is therefore subject to strict German and European data protection laws and standards. etracker has been independently audited and certified in this regard and awarded the ePrivacyseal data protection seal of approval.

Data processing is carried out on the basis of the legal provisions of Art. 6 Para. 1 lit. f (legitimate interest) of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Our concern in terms of the DGPR (legitimate interest) is the optimization of our online offer and our web presence. Since the privacy of our visitors is important to us, the data that may allow a reference to an individual person, such as the IP address, login or device identifiers, are anonymized or pseudonymized as soon as possible. No other use, combination with other data or transfer to third parties will take place.

You can object to the aforementioned data processing at any time. The objection has no adverse consequences.

Further information on data protection at etracker can be found here.

8. Integration of Facebook and Co

On our homepage, buttons from Facebook, Youtube, Google + and Instagram are integrated, which allow you to easily share the content.

OroVerde resorts to the Shariff buttons for this purpose. A shariff button establishes direct contact between social network and visitor only when the latter actively clicks on the share button. You can then log in to the respective network with your data.

The data protection provisions of the providers of the social networks then apply.

9. Contact

If you have any questions about OroVerde's privacy practices and the information we have about you and how we use that information, or if you would like to stop us from using your information, please feel free to contact us at any time.

The responsible contact person is our external data protection officer: datenschutz(at)oroverde.de
